Club Lotto

Our Jackpot of €15,200 was won on Sunday last with Lennart Thomsen having the winning numbers of 12, 13, 22 & 26. Lennart has been a long time supporter of our Club Lotto so it is fitting that such a loyal supporter won our biggest ever Jackpot. Congratulations from everyone at Bunbrosna GAA to Lennart.

We are very grateful for the ongoing support we receive towards our Lotto from Club members and supporters, far and wide, without which we would not be able to run our Club. While the Jackpot was rising to record levels we were fortunate to have a large number of support for each draw. This support enabled us to develop our facilities so thank you to everyone for their support and we hope you are in a position to continue this support.

Next draw on Sunday 19th May. Jackpot will be €3000.

Division 3 vs Moate

We hosted Moate on Saturday evening last in the next round of Division 3 of the league. With the pitch in excellent condition despite the recent weather and on a fine evening for a match, Bun recorded their first two points of the league with their best performance of the year to date.

Having struggled with poor starts in each of the last three games, it was Bun who started on the front foot in this encounter. A clever run from Matthew Hope found Barry O Mara in space to slot the opening score of the game with a composed finish to the net. This was the catalyst for a fine team performance throughout the opening half.

Moate responded well to the goal and scored the next two points. These would be their last in the opening half, thanks in no small part to the resolut Bun defence. Barry O Mara fisted over a quick free from Ken Conroy before the favour was returned when O Mara set up Conroy to strike an excellent point from play.

O Mara was pulling the strings in the forward line and he found Mark Donnelly in space who fired over with the right. Matthew Hope then made another burst through the middle to kick an excellent point with his left foot! A collectors item for Matthew!!

The patient build up of Bun was rewarded again as the half was drawing to a close. O Mara, Finnan and Brian Maguire were involved to set up Donnelly for a point which went over with the aid of the post.

Barry O Mara brought the scoring of the opening half to a close with a free after Enda Newman was fouled after a good run. The half time score read Bun 1:07 Moate 0:02.

The second half saw Moate start with a flourish. They were determined to get back in the game and scored the first point of the half. Some brilliant defending prevented them making further inroads on the score line.

Bun were on top in the play but their efficient shooting of the first half was missing in the opening ten minutes of the second half. Aidan Finnan finally got their opening score of the half and this helped to settle Bun.

Brian Maguire then made a lung bursting run through the centre to kick an excellent point with the outside of the right boot. The score drew large applause from the crowd to acknowledge its quality!

Finnan then followed up with a fine score off his left from open play before getting his third point of the half to wrap up the scoring. Full time score was Bun 1:11 Moate 0:06.

This was a very good performance from Bun who thoroughly deserved their victory. They will be pleased with their spread of scorers as well as the quality of their defensive play. Next up is Multy on Saturday week.
